The part that i hate about this movie is that every one is yelling "FOR FRODO!!!!!!!!!!!!" when he is just giving up with out a fight and Sam saved his life and by fighting off a giant spiderand has to carry him the rest of the way after giving Frodo the last sip of water and was left behind by Frodo earlier in the movie and then if it wasnt for Smigel Frodo would have turned Insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!­!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank GOD people like Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and others knew what was at stake with these movies, and had respect for Tolkien's books as a literary work. As Jackson himself said,"At the end of day, this is Tolkien's story, not ours." He recognized that the best way he could approach the movie was to simply capture the spirit of the books by remaining true to them,and remain respectful of Tolkien's love for language, history, and words.

And find actors respectful of Tolkien. He did!!

The movies came out when I was in my early 30's...I have been reading the LOTR and The Hobbit since the early 1980's, I read them both on a regular basis, as well as the History of Middle Earth and the Silmarillion.

I was troubled, and I had great doubts when I heard Tolkien's masterpiece was being made into a movie back in 2000. I am so proud of Peter Jackson for handling this epic story with such respect, and for finding actors who put so much of their heart and soul into these roles!!

I truly do not understand how Sean Astin wasn't nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar with the Academy for this performance.... one of the most heartfelt and passionate portrayals of a fantasy character ever. All the actors took a huge risk playing these roles, because it had to be handled very carefully so it didn't become cheesy. Very difficult making a fantasy convincing in movie form. It had the potential to be a disaster... but they captured the heart of the LOTR PERFECTLY!

One thing I love is that if someone said to Frodo that he was a hero he'd be like "No, Sam is the hero!" and if one said the same thing to Sam he'd be like "No! Mr Frodo is the true hero!"

It's funny but it shows a lot about their characters - both are very humble. I can really imagine Sam physically attacking anyone who dissed Frodo in favour of him XD

So remember folks, next time u point out the fact Sam's the chief hero and not Frodo, make sure Sam isn't listening LOL XD *lame joke, I know*
