Financial analyst Joe Meyer provided an update on a number of facets surrounding the economic crisis including the debt ceiling, the dollar as world reserve currency, and the rising price of gold and silver. Chillingly, he expressed absolute certainty that the United States is facing an impending double dip recession. In order to turn things around, Meyer suggested a massive overhaul of America's infrastructure, in order to help create new jobs, much like the WPA helped the US end the Depression. In the long term, he pointed to three "cornerstones" that will need to be enacted in order to develop an economic recovery that can be sustained: revitalize manufacturing, bolster consumer confidence, and increase the savings rate.
