The new MP for Kingswood, Chris Skidmore, arranged for a debate in Parliament on the future of Frenchay Hospital.
Chris, who during the election campaigned for the maximum possible services to remain at Frenchay, gained a half-hour debate, at which Health Minister Simon Burns MP will respond.
Chris said, "Frenchay is a world-class Hospital, whose downgrading under the previous Labour government was a national scandal. I wanted to call this debate in Parliament as I want to stand up for the thousands of Constituents who think that the downgrading of Frenchay Hospital under the previous government was a disgrace. Though it seems that there is little that can now be done to save Frenchay's Accident and Emergency facilities, I will be doing all I can to protect and preserve the maximum possible facilities at Frenchay, and the public deserves to know where we stand with the future of Frenchay."
Frenchay Hospital was downgraded despite a 50,000 signature petition presented to the then Secretary of State for Health, Patricia Hewitt.
