Unsold game show pilot from 1977, hosted by a very young David Letterman. Dave was hilarious - who knows how history might have changed if this show had been picked up! Celebrities include Joanne Worley, Joyce Bulifant, Robert Urich, Michael McKean, and Debralee Scott.

  • letterman is the best. Absolutely owns Leno (Leno is # 1 because of his guests who are local being in the LA area. It's not because of him per se).

  • Nice upload, Letterman is the best

  • Young David Letterman > nowadays David Letterman

  • I can see why the show failed (the riddles are just plain bad), but this is absolutely vintage David Letterman ... mightydickerson is right ... for lack of a better format, the history of late night television might have been far different.

  • David Letterman would have made a fantastic game show host. Too bad no network ever picked up this pilot. His quick wit makes this show an absolute pleasure to watch.

  • roger perry apparently favored funny ladies

  • @Serendipity94123 you MEAN Helen Hayes, Larry Hagman is Mary Martin's son.

  • I think the comedy might've killed the show's chances of being sold.

It's funny, don't get me wrong, but that might've turned off the networks to the show.

  • That one lady at the end of the celebrity line is a complete idiot.

  • I guess this is what you call the Union Hall for unemployed actors

  • Wow, he really got to stretch his comedy legs instead of just playing straight up game show host.

  • "Makes you want to run right out and buy a home game, doesn't it?"

    Hysterical comment. :-D
