Ludwig Wittgenstein believed that the foundation of language and linguistic meaning is the very basis of philosophy.

The World is made of language. The ability to control language imparts another capability, the control of reality itself, language creates reality. We are enslaved by the linguistic assignments of our culture. An alteration of language can transform our apprehension of the universe. Reality is not independent from our description of it, words wield the power to shape reality. The beliefs we carry form a blade that sculpts wood as readily as it cuts throats.

Main themes covered: linguistic relativity, semantics, semiotics, memes, nlp, newspeak, reality, symbolic representation

  • i think you'd might like The Venus Project

  • @Stillillgal Thanks, but TVP is a centralized solution and not the way to go imo. A few good points here by swim... watch?v=1lGfurK2XKs watch?v=RHIgA6A0sv8

  • @HoloplexProductions

thats not true....listen to some jacque fresco lactures

  • @Stillillgal No one solution is the answer, TVP is a top-down system which is antithetical to network society,

  • @HoloplexProductions

what do you mean by "the answer"? we can overcome almost every problem if we'll use the scienitfic method

  • @Stillillgal People have to self-organize, telling people that TVP is the way forward or the only solution fosters hostility.I have nothing against using the scientific method for efficient resource utilization, but politically I reject to a centralized system of control. TVP is welcome to build its prototypes, but it will not be the solution that is adopted globally, it is only one of many ways of creating a smart city.

That is fucking amazing and just amazingly accurate

  • @michael616joaquin I'd say at the time more of a muddied medium between intellectualism and anti-intellectualism, I have no interest in the bigotry of black or white. Regardless does not all philosophical enquiry deconstruct into meaningless maps upon maps upon maps...

  • @8ANIMATIONS You answered your own question.

  • Your perception of the word is your perception of reality.

What if someone has a different perception.

  • If we were highly aware of ourselves, I'm sure we'd be able to express exactly what those words mean to us, such as dog, and wolf. I mean, those words (or symbols) represent very specific connections between the word itself and the past experiences we've acquired along the way, whatever those connections may be. I think it's extremely important to remain conscious about these "things" -- hopefully, to identify more precisely what connections we've made.

  • @HoloplexProductions Yep, you're so right. We're all story-tellers living a narrative we've written for ourselves. It's sad that so many people have apparently forgotten this, or at the very least underestimate the value of "knowing" this. Likewise, language is sooo ambiguous, though I'd have to disagree, whereby language only becomes ambiguous when communicating with others.
