Metallica didn't invent thrash. By that time they were just a part of one wave of thrash metal, that started simultaneously in 1981: Exodus, Overkill, Slayer. But the first actual thrash riffs were played by Overkill and Metallica guys were inspired by them.

@deathbypowerglove Slayer laid the foundation for metal bands today and without slayer there would be no sepultura or pantera to keep the flame from burning out and they are in no way cliche they know their place in music and they have a unique style so im sorry if its to loud for ur sensitive ears marry sue but slayer kicks ass
