A couple laps at the late, lamented Bridgehampton track on Eastern Long Island. Summer of 1990, I'm driving my 944 Turbo, but also on the track are a real 935 (!!) and a hybrid turbo 914-6 that's so tweaked it wouldn't pass anyone's racing rules.

I could be half-way down the main straight, with Art's 935 just getting on from the last turn, and he'd still pass me before Hangsen's bend (180MPH vs 130MPH). The event was staged by PCA/NYC.

  • Thanks for posting this! I would kill to have had the oppurtunity to do this. Its beyond idiotic that people can't live with a racetrack near them, especially a world class one like Bridgehampton Raceway. My grandfather won the double 500 there in the 60's with a Porsche 906.

  • I learned how to "do it" here.No brake on the downhill and turn 1&2 were the ride of your life!!! Dodging deer at dusk was a thrill.Dodging the Batmobile with Nicky or Mark in the cockpit would scare the hell out of me.Breaking loose on 5 was a gas, hanging your ass in the hairpin was all one would need to raise your BP. Dale was right...turn 13 was a 4th gear turn...always added 8-10mph at the bridge.Always felt luggy at the start...very fast at the hill.Is Mikey P still in the trees @ 7?

  • The only reason you'd struggle to go faster and faster over here is to come back asap to turn2 ;D

  • Thanks for posting. My parents used to club race at Bridgehampton through EMRA. My Mom will appreciate the quick pace down memory lane as she was a track record holder for the club.

  • That looked like the batmobile from Formula Motorsports!

Great video thanks for posting this! I never got to drive the track but was privileged enough to go there with my dad with metro as a kid during the mid 90's up until the end.

  • the internet and youtube brings back the memories that could not have been relived without it.

I raced motorcycles there and NHIS from early 90's 'til its closing.

  • Thanks for the memories I was president Of LISCA at the time and rallied with Ted Ohland many times Long Live NY PCA I so miss this track as well
