Officials reported around 8:30 p.m. that Deputy U.S. Marshal John Perry, 48, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and had died from his injury at St. Louis University Hospital.
The shooting happened just before 7 a.m. Tuesday morning in the 3100 block of Osage in south St. Louis.
Carlos Boles, a felony warrant suspect, opened fire on eight law enforcement officials after they entered his St. Louis home early Tuesday morning. One U.S. Marshal was killed, another U.S. Marshal and a St. Louis police officer were injured in the incident.
The department's Violent Offenders Unit requested the assistance of U.S. Marshals as a precaution, due to information received that Boles could pose a threat to law enforcement officials. Boles was to be taken into custody on at-large warrants for 2nd Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest.
The TV Show "Justified" on the FX network whose storyline revolves around a US Marshall, paid tribute to this man. That's how I got here.
Brave man. Much respect.
