Heartbroken suicidal man, tasered by law enforcement

Heartbriken man who was threatening to jump off pedestrian bridge onto Interstate 70 in Columbia Missouri.
After about an hour, the police gain a little bit of the man's trust, just enough to get him to move closer to edge of the pedestrian walkway. Evidently the communications didn't meet the police officers liking, the officer fires the first taser causing him to rush back out about 15 feet to the center of the bridge overpass. The man was holding onto the safety fence as he runs. A second taser shot was fired and his body tensed up and he falls like a brick down to the roadway below.
What the hell was the cop thinking when he fired that second shot?
Was this unnecessary force, after all he wasn't armed with anything other than a dagger in his broken heart?

Look in any town you live how many police killings there are, 8 in my town in six months, one man killed was a elderly man 76 yrs old and had called the police to see who was outside his house, #2 unarmed Indian was shot five times by off duty cop. Indian ran for help cop went to prison. the Indian was still alive to tell his story.thank god he was able to prove it.that is just in my little town. people we need to arm ourselves why we still can. not saying all cops are bad. but I wont call them

It all depends on what the conversation was. Maybe they thought he was going to decide to run back out there so he shot a taser so he wouldnt kill himself....the second one was idiotic though. Some officers just dont think that much.

answer quite a few. and if that is your opinion about a group of people because of a job, you have a very sad outlook on life. i would love to hear your opinion about lawyers.lol. 90 percent are the best people you will ever meet, just like any other prof. there are some idiots. i dont disagree the pressure of the job may get to some of them,,but most of that manifest in ,,sadly enough, hurting themselves through drugs ect. but very few are criminals

@byramtax Let me ask you an honest question...how many cops do you invite to your parties or social get togethers?...... I don't invite them to mine for a very good reason...I don't trust them at all and have no faith in their 'honesty' or humanity. It's a rotten job that corrupts them all over time, no matter how innocent they are when they start their careers.

@byramtax Sorry I am aware there are good cops but the one on my street is an ass, every time I've had to deal with them they were an ass regardless of how respectful i was of them, I do have some family members that are cops but they are asses too. And I'm sure there are lots of good cops who do there jobs right and really want to help people and uphold the law, I just seem to get stuck dealing with the ones that are jerks. You're right about the youth of today and the media though.

well then you have deeper issues then the guy on the bridge. 99%of cops are great people,,your neighbors and friends from school. they do a job where they see people that are nuts and dont care if they hurt them at all. so unless you do that job you cant comment on it. its like any job, people are good, people are bad. the bottom line is today kids/youth were raised not to respect anything, and that leads to confrontation, and the lib. media goes after cops...very sad.
