Becky Kuhn, M.D., co-founder of Global Lifeworks, discusses how people who are HIV positive (HIV+) can reduce or eliminate their risk of transmitting HIV to others. If HIV positive people choose to be sexually active, it is important that they practice safer sex techniques, such as using condoms and dental dams, both to avoid infecting others and to avoid re-infecting themselves with other strains of HIV that may become resistant to medications they are on or cause their T cell (CD4) count to drop, which can lead to the onset of clinical AIDS in a person who had been healthy up until that point. If an HIV positive person is on antiretroviral medication, it is important that they take every dose on schedule to avoid developing a drug-resistant strain of HIV. This will also help keep their viral load low, reducing the risk of HIV transmission. Visit http://www.GlobalLifeworks.org/ and http://www.AIDSvideos.org to learn more. Condoms are not perfect. They do not GUARANTEE that HIV won't be transmitted. They can break, for example. However, if used correctly (roll down over the shaft not pulled like a sock, no oil-based lubricant, remove promptly after ejaculation, etc.) they greatly reduce the risk of HIV transmission.
Grateful for the information. I need to hear this. I have long since behaved as if everyone I encounter has a superinfectious, drug resistant strain of HIV but doesn't know it himself. This really curbs my promiscuous nature. When someone hot entices me with unprotected sex I have replied, "No, Thanks. I want to live." I've missed out on alot of great sex as a result but I am still negative (as far as I know, but don't take my word for it.)
well im a medical doctor and no you cannot get hiv by kissing someone unless that opposite sex your kissing has a cut in his or her mouth or is bleeding then yes you may get it as well
Every primal infection could be seen as a multiple infection where the dominant strain succeeds to multiply at the cost of the others. This puts a so called 'super infection' in a different light. However, there is a difference between discussing virusses and moralising about people who are infected. I humbly suggest you do the one you are trained for and leave the other to those who are infected.
For the record, YT user AIDSvideos (Eric Krock) is a volunteer with no medical training as noted at AIDSvideos site. HIV is a global health emergency. It's not right to put the burden of HIV prevention education work solely on those most affected, the HIV positive. HIV negative people must help too. This video in no way moralizes about those who are HIV positive; it provides them free, accurate, up-to-date info about ways to reduce their own risk and that of their partners.

We now know that HIV superinfection is possible in humans." [Diane Havlir, "A Case Worth Noting: HIV Superinfection," Journal Watch Infectious Diseases September 20, 2002.]
