@MrRabastan I have the same problem. I have a strong classical background, I also attended a harmony and musical theory course and got a very good grade in the examination. But I'm still not able to do such covers. I think it's all about the perfect pitch - if you got it you're fucking lucky otherwise you have to find another way. You can improve a lot practicing, I tried it on myself. As "returnthisserve7" said first you have to find the melody of the song and the chords and then you add stuff.

By the way, what kind of education do you think is necessary to be able to compose or transcribe such music? I can play piano up to concert level, and I know all the musical scales, but I just learned them mechanically and scarcely understand what music even is. So I guess my question is, can you recommend a course of study to get to where you are? You should impart your wisdom!

@MrRabastan Sure. I have trouble explaining how I create my covers. It honestly comes really naturally. I do have perfect pitch which is the main engine for my covers, I can tell almost every note/chord in a song and mimic it on the piano. I do try to 'sing' the melody on the piano and really play the song as if it were written for the piano. If you have perfect pitch and have a strong classical background (see my Chopin Ballade video) then with creativity you can make covers similar to my style
