Do you have to use the same router in RDC or can you log in to your system from anywhere with any router.

@msfrancois13 , You can connect to any PC that has a local area network with an internet connection. The internet hops links two separate subnets together. You do not have to use the same router, however you need to configure the router that is on the target computer's network to allow that local IP address of say 192.168.1.6 to be linked to an external like 64.148.221.54

in my house, we have 2 computers. Both computers have the same ip address so when i want to log in from an outside computer into computer# 2 with RDC it logs me in computer#1. What do i do to log in to computer# 2 ?

@Realizers, If you have a local area network at home, you should NEVER have the same IP address for more than one device on the same subnet mask. When you have more than one device with the same IP address on the same subnet mask, you will encounter issues like this. Its like having two people on your street with the same address, packages will be delivered to both places or just one place...you need to change the one computer's IP address to something else.

they dont have the same local ip address but the same external...how do i change the ip address of only one of the computers?

@Realizers, if you are running a small business or corp, and have puchased multiple outside IP addresses, you will link them in the Gateway of your local area network. That Gateway tends to control DHCP and routing, also it will control what local IP addresses are linked to external IP addresses. This varies on the system and complexity of your network though. If it was me, I would begin looking at your Gateway for some answers.
