Textile artists are becoming increasingly aware of the possibilities of using paper as a medium, but papermaking needs no special skills or experience.

Using pulp made simply from recycled waste paper or rags, students can experience how making handmade paper expands their vision of textile art. Morleys facilities also allow students to make paper with conventional fibres such as cotton linters and abaca and cook and beat plant fibres to create subtle, lustrous and original works.

In Morley Colleges well-equipped studio, which is unique in having a Hollander beater, students can dye, cut, fold, crease, stitch and transform paper into unique two and three dimensional artworks.
