Documentary: British informers destroy the IRA from within - 1/3

This documentary examines the role undercover informants played in the destruction of the IRA during Northern Ireland's Troubles.

One agent is credited with saving the lives of 50 innocent protestant civilians who were targeted for sectarian murder by IRA death squads. By the time it surrendered in 1994 90% of all IRA attacks were being thwarted by the police and army and thousands of it's members were serving long prison sentences.

It's what happened here in the US against the Mafia. When RICO was passed that did away with the mob because if you were convicted you will serve life in a Federal Prison. 15 to 30 years so they started singing like canaries, who wants to serve life for something they didn't do? Not me. Many were moved into relocation programs.
