  • @Jophie12 were white people kidnapped and enslaved for hundreds of years? I don't think so.. So I think that gives us the right to make jokes because they don't mean anything! Jokes like this relate to racism while black people were being stolen and shipped to america to be sold as slaves! Going back about four hundred years might I add. So there's a different meaning to the two race oriented jokes: One's offensive, the other is meaningless and therefore funny!

  • @SonySpArTaN144 Actually yes. Arab slave traders sailed into the black sea and dragged off my Slavic ancestors for centuries before the Russian Tsardom became strong enough to expand and oppose the slave raiders. The same Muslim slave traders who sailed up and down the coast of East Africa and created a Slave trade that enslaved even more people and was even more brutal than the Atlantic Slave trade. Go read history and chill out, not all us white folk hate you, alot of us wanna be friends :D

  • @galolito nonsense it was not race based.

  • me want womban afiken slav

  • During the Roman empire a slave from gall was worth one amphora of good wine. And it was Galls who were doing the selling. So yes slavery many many thousands of years old and continues today. What was unique about American slavery was that it was race based.

  • @SonySpArTaN144

Africans had african slaves, and sold africans to white and arab people.

    Also arabs traded black slaves

    Chinese traded chinese slaves

Europeans had European slaves (wtf do u nigga think the feudal age was?? (a peasant was considered the property of the landlord, had no rights, no land and could be killed at any time... same goes for Japanese peasants up till 1868

Grow up nigga stop blaming white people

  • @SonySpArTaN144 I hate how afro-americans always complain about how their ancestors were slaves.... Niggas you better thank God your grandparents were slaves in USA, cos now you can live the good American life, while your free cousins in Africa are dying of starvation....

  • @gulfstream020 what behavios have i shown gave you the assumption i was mistaken for an animal?

The fact that I know how to work a computer? the fact that i graduated from school? The fact that I make music? I understand your comment doe, you mean blacks in general right? Fair enough but there's a lot I can say about whites like you did, but I won't say them because I'm not like you. We all have racial thoughts run thru our head, but it's what you do with those thoughts that count...

  • Judging by blacks' behavior, no wonder they were once mistaken for animals!!!

  • Jophie12: Get over it Girl. Thousands of whites fought and died to end slavery so 90% of the Blacks in Chicago could collect a Gov. Check. Say I have a question: How's that "Hope & Change" working out for Ya?

  • Oh, yeah! It's really funny. Especially the surprise ending where good Ol' Uncle Tom kills Simon Legree with his ball and chain and everyone lives happily ever after. That part's the funniest.

  • @Jophie12 dude i'm mexican and i can obviously see american comedy relies on racism, so cut the crap you're not convincing anyone -_-

  • @SonySpArTaN144 a million or more European Christians were enslaved by Muslims in North Africa between 1530 and 1780. when trans-Atlantic slaving was still in its infancy more white Christian slaves were taken to Barbary than African slaves to the Americas. One of the things that both the public and many scholars have tended to take as given is that slavery was always racial in nature, that only blacks have been slaves. But that is not true. Do your research.

  • So saying, we can joke and be racist, but you can't isn't fair. & White comedians do make jokes about black people, but not to the extent that blacks do whites. Honestly, until we can find a common ground, movies like this shouldn't be shown, but black people do have some work to do as well.

  • White people need to realize that because of slavery, & the way black people were treated by mostly white people, the stigma will carry on until modern times. No, I wasn't a slave, and no, the whites on here did not enslave another black person. But because of the mistakes of others in the past, certain things just aren't allowed now, and are deemed offensive. Black people need to realize that we should be fighting for equality, not any type of superiority over whites.

  • What's the saddest part about this is that I bought this cartoon for my 4 year old from Walmart! It was on a disc that read 150 Cartoon Classics by Mill Creek Entertainment that featured Betty Boop, Popeye, Woody Wood Pecker, etc on the front. The discs went for $5, so I thought it was a steal! Only when taking a break from housework did I notice the horror that was being marketed to our children!

  • @SonySpArTaN144 Who the hell says one joke is offensive and the other isn't?? YOU DO... If you want a double standard just say that... Don't try to put any retarded logic behind it.

  • @SonySpArTaN144 does that stick up your ass cause discomfort?

  • This is a super primitive cartoon for 1937. Was the budget $2?

  • @asciiguy283 You DO know that home televisions didn't EXIST in the 1930s, right? Cartoons were produced to be shown in movie theaters, between the newsreel and the main feature film.

  • @ihopveggan I am just saying that in the cartoon it seems so innocent. This is what they want you to believe but you have to look at the big picture by the end of the cartoon. I mean black people are still looked at as bafoons.

  • and if the joke "don't mean anything" then ANYONE can say them!

  • @ihopveggan i hate to breck it to u but they still are these days its called "human trafficing" and its people of every race its 2011 and somepeople still own other people

  • @kgirl1306 I've observed in many cartoons from that time there were several mice characters quite alike Mickey - eg Betty Boop cartoons. I suppose it may be some influence of Ub Iwerks' (former Disney collaborator) style.
