March 30, 2007. Public domain federal band music accompanies video of We the People Foundation [givemeliberty.org] sponsored a "Right to Petition" Vigil with 50 plus "V for Vendetta" characters who came to say "Obey the Constitution or Else." One protester showed to remind them -- or else we'll obey the Declaration of Independence's urgings to "alter or abolish" government. Recognize the background music??

  • proof of your slavery to government...begging for rights and freedom...keep playing the democracy game, trying to win yourself a little freedom...the tyrant government has ruled the people for over 200 years...how many more years will it take, before you open your dim eyes? no free man is ruled by others

  • @longfootbuddy Actually it looks more like they are threatening the government. I mean you saw the movie from which masks came? Of course, I don't approve of threats of Guy Fawkes type violence. But there's no doubt that secession from the establishment is a better strategy that taking it over or violently rebelling.

  • Does anyone else find it funny that the Tea Party is now doing the exact same thing about the Democrats?

  • The Tea Party includes people whose main interest is liberty and using the Constitution to restrict government. (Though as a libertarian I think that experiment has failed.) However, there are other elements whose focus is increasing government repression, be it against Arabs and Immigrants, womens' control of their bodies, defining marriage only one way, stomping on any nation that doesn't kowtow to the US (with China's money of course) and other anti-liberty notions. They're no true tea party.

  • That's laughable! Declare independence?!

The USA spends more than all the other nations added together in defense spending! Now you know why!

  • Spoken like someone who understands that a big part of the job of the military of any nation state is to crush those who seek independence from its oppressive laws and taxes.

  • @carolmoore Includes. As a very small minority. Most of the Tea Party marches lock step behind Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin. Who manipulate the truth, use half-truths or outright lie and use the proper verbiage and emotions to rally people behind them. And most of the people that they are voting for are the very people that will limit liberty in a heartbeat.

  • You Guys rock! Thanks!

  • Thanks to all those who took the time and made the effort needed to put government on notice. Of course, our government will continue on the path to tyranny. The real point is to educate the citizens and try to wake them up to see what's happening. As the US standard of living takes a sharp drop and our liberties are even more restricted and ignored, more people will wake up. I hope it's not already too late. Our second amendment is the only reason we're not already 100% fascist.

  • yes, because the military must be used to suppress the people they are trained to protect. what a lovely use for military made of the same people you suggest it must protect the country from.
