This is my OTTB, Romeo. I've only had him for about 2 months now and he's only been jumping for about a month. He is very green but very willing... he is just lazy so he requires A LOT of leg. He's really coming along great so today in our lesson my trainer tried us on lines. We ended up going up to about 2'6" by the end of the lesson but my camera ran out of battery and memory card!! :-[ He really needs something more to jump than what he's doing here... he doesn't respect the tiny jumps he just steps over them mostly.

We are getting ready for a clinic in Lexington with Michael Page! I'm very excited and I'm really hoping he'll have some great tips for me and Romeo.

~*~~*ALSO*~~*~ I just want to say that I know my legs swing a lot. I'm coming back to hunter/jumper after a riding accident about 3 years ago that severely damaged my confidence AND my left leg. I have 2 plates, 8 screws and 6 pins in my leg as a result. SO.... NO ADVICE. The lady in the arena is my trainer and that's what she is for. I don't need 12-year-old YouTubers trying to tell me what I'm doing wrong. I know I need work!!! I think I did pretty ok for just getting back into jumping within the past month.

  • wow TB that requires alot of leg!? all our TBs require very little and sensitive but great job with him!

  • @PNpanther2015 Haha.. he is NOT a normal TB. VERY LAZY. We go to shows now and people always comment that he's a "Quarter Horse". I don't think he looks too much like a Quarter Horse... my guess is it's his "attitude". :-P

  • A D O R I B L E!!!!!!!! :D lol is it really hard to train an ottb because when i get a new horse thats what i wanna get:)

  • @dutchwarmblood2love It totally depends on the horse. Romeo hasn't been hard AT ALL... but then there are some OTTB's who have just had so much trauma on the track, that it takes a long time. It's all dependent on the horse. Just like if you were to teach a person something new. Some learn faster than others. :) OTTB's can truly be a gamble so make sure you do your homework and I would recommend a 2 week to a month trial before you buy!

  • that horse is perfect! he gets every lead change, smooth gait, jumps amazingly, he looks like he can jump very high too! hes yours right? i would LOVE 2 own a horse like that!! (: <3 (:

  • @horselover4912 Thank you for such a sweet comment about my boy! Yes, he's perfect... I absolutely ADORE him. I'm very lucky. This was his first time ever jumping lines like this too. I was very proud of him. :) This was about 2 years ago also! He's even further along now.

  • omg his canter looks soooooooo smooth

  • Great job! I know how tough it is coming back from such a serious injury, I broke my back last year and I am just coming back now. Wonderful ottb you have, he seems very willing and honest! All horses lack respect for the little jumps at first, he will just get better and better as he keeps learning. My mare was the exact same way. Keep up the good work! Oh and thank you for telling the little 12 year old "judges" to stop playing trainer, someone had to! :)
