A simple guitar amp built into a Cheetos can. Uses an LM386 power amplifier, following a modified version of Make Magazine's cracker box amp design.

  • hahaha i love the crunchyness lol. but for the gain, or "crunch" do u want the resistance to increase or decrease to add more crunch?

  • @penguinpro123 - For more crunchiness, you need more gain, so it will overdrive the amp. I put a potentiometer between pins 1 and 8 of the LM386. The datasheet isn't explicit here, but I think lower resistance results in more gain and more crunch.

  • @stevechamberlin thx i got it working. i can't get a clean tone though. i can only have crunch and really crunchy. any ideas?

  • @penguinpro123 - Try a potentiometer with a larger value, like 10K.

  • If your tone isnt crunchy its because you bought the puffy can morons

  • Lol, I see what you did there with the 'crunch'. Lol, nice. I'll keep this in mind if I ever gig and my amp dies xD QUICK, SOMEBODY GET ME A CHEETOS CAN, A SPEAKER, AND AN LM386! :P
