God Bless You Norma. RIP.

When hubby Randy cuts in, look how happy Norma looks. She just beams at him. Hopefully, one day I'll marry a man that makes me beam joy. I don't always care for soprano voices, even Norma's voice. Sometime I like OK what she's singing, and other times I don't. But I always love Norma the person. She was a class act and a lovely woman. Rest in peace, Norma. You are missed.

@JayBBluejay I remember Welk called her his Champagne Lady.

Now Norma Zimmer has now joined Mr. Welk in Heaven right now. She and her soprano voice will definitely be missed.
As for the song the Welk orchestra is playing, it is "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me", which was a big hit for Mel Carter. It would have really been heavenly if Mr. Welk had invited Mel on his show to sing that song while the Champagen Music Makers played that arrangement.

@catholicpriest1 I think the 1964-65 season, according to some YouTube clips and some facts from a Lawrence Welk Show site, was also taped at the Palace. The 1965-66 season had ABC borrowing Color TV equipment from MGM in New York. I think also that Shindig! was taped at Welk's regular ABC studio during this time, while the Welk site said it was being converted to color.

@calihartley2010 i did not call you names, mainly speculating. Sorry if you misunderstood.

@calihartley2010 I will concede one point. My generation could have a discussion without resorting to name calling and personal attack unlike a lot of people on the internet nowadays.

@clydelaz well a lot of people say other wise. You must be black or a self hating white liberal. Atleast morals were good and there was great music. If you think todays world and tv and radio are much better, you are off your rockers

@jamsmitty10 this is a dreamworld. I am in my 50's, things are much better now. This is all make believe, things were not really like this. The world back then was filled with racist, intolerant, narrow minded assholes. Middle class people had 1 TV for the whole family and 1 telephone corded to the wall in a central location. You had to behave in a certain narrow way or be made fun of. Trust me, you would not have liked it.

I didn't know Peter Sellers played the violin.
Great video. Shows how close families were back then. Music was good, and life was good. Give me those days instead of the horrible ones we have today. I'm in my 20's
