(May 21)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] It was a hoax...that's the word from police in Smithfield, North Carolina about a report that a three year old boy disappeared Sunday from a flea market parking lot.The police chief says young "Raji" Davenport was never in danger and is safe with family members. In fact, Steve Gillikan says the boy - whose name isn't really Raji Davenport - was never even AT the Brightleaf Flea Market.SOT: Steve Gillikan, Smithfield Police Chief: " We know that for a fact. The child was never here in Smithfield during the incident."Authorities say they are still trying to get to the bottom of the case, but there are a lot of unanswered questions -- like is the woman who called 911 the toddler's mother? And was the boy even in the Smithfield area when the report came in that he was missing?SOT: Gillikan: "The only thing that we have been able to determine happened here in Smithfield was the 911 call being placed through our 911 center."Local police say federal and state authorities are involved in the investigation.
