Opening Flame Asian Winter Games 2011 in Astana, Kazakhstan/Kasachstan

Am 30. Januar wurde die Eröffnungsfeier der Asian Winter Games 2011 in Astana, Kasachstan vor 30.000 begeisterten Zuschauern und Teilnehmern gefeiert. Nach Entzündung der Olympischen Flamme beendete ein spektakuläres Feuerwerk über der Skyline von Astana diese denkwürdige Veranstaltung.

Unter den Gästen aus aller Welt auch : Faisal bin Al Hussein - Prinz von Jordanien, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Kronprinz von Abu Dhabi, Jacques Rogge - Präsident des IOC International Olympic Committee, Roza Otunbayeva - Präsident von Kyrgyzstan

Unter dem Motto: Unity of purpose - unity of spirit! beteiligen sich 23 Nationen mit 843 Athleten bis zum 6. Februar an den Spielen die mit der Abschlussfeier in Almaty enden.

Weitere Informationen:
Die "fernöstlichen olympischen Spiele" teilen sich auf in Sommer-, Hallen-, Strand- und Winter-Asienspiele auf. Die 7ten Winterspiele finden 2011 zum ersten Mal in Kasachstan statt. Die zwei Austragungsorte sind Astana, die neue prosperierenden Hauptstadt und Almaty, dem ehemaligen Regierungssitz und Metropole im Süd-osten des Landes.

In folgenden Sportarten finden Wettkämpfe statt:
Bandy- Biathlon- Curling- Eishockey- Eiskunstlaufen- Shorttrack- Eisschnelllauf- Ski Alpin- Freestyle-Skiing- Skilanglauf- Skispringen- Snowboard

Folgende Nationen nehmen teil:
Afghanistan, Bahrain, China, North Korea, Hong Kong, India, Iran,Japan,Jordan,South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan,Philippines, Singapore,Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait & Kazakhstan
