Mat-Su Animal Control, a local EMS unit, and myself rescued 6 dogs and 6 pups that had been abandoned at a remote campsite about 10 miles off the road system just south of Talkeetna, Alaska. The owners were found trying to walk out of camp and suffered severe frostbite. The dogs were left without food, water, or shelter except one female who had just given birth to 6 pups just days earlier, she was tied up inside the tent. Temps had plummeted to 30 below zero in the days that they were there alone, so we did not know exactly what we would find. Thankfully all the dogs were alive. We loaded them into crates and strapped them into toboggans to get them out. The trail in was treacherous, two of the rescuers flipped their machines on the way in, but no one was hurt. At the end of the day, it all ended well, and I've got a little bit of karma in the bank now.

  • Id rather die with my dogs than to live them alone and just save my self,.

  • stupid owners! they should've gotten horribly lost in the snow and starved to death! then they'll know wot it feels like! how can they jsut chain up the dogs and leave them like that! even if they didnt want the dogs and wanna leave them, they should just let them go and not chain them up!

  • Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people?

  • people are heartless, I would not know what to do without my dogs. I rescued 3 more, ones throat was sliced, one leg was mangled, one was starved and brutalized. all of them are fine now. Oh KIKI a cat weighed in at a whopping 2.2 pounds no teeth, she weighs 5 pounds now doing great. My first rescue 15 years ago is in heaven now. A chow the whole family abandoned. all road kill ,I got 1 itty bear was his name gone to heaven now.people find groups that foster them just do not abandoned them, babies

  • Stupid people shouldn't breed.

  • We adopted one of these puppies - doing great- very happy and obnoxious and definitely a survivor

  • OMG! WHY DID THOSE PEOPLE LEAVE THOSE POOR DOGS. IF THEY LEAVE THEM THEN WHY DID THEY BUY DOGS IF THEY CAN'T TAKE CARE OF THEM. THEY SHOULD BE SORRY TO LEAVE THE DOG'S ALONE. I WISH THOSE DOG'S HAVE A HOME SOON. :)

  • You are wonderful for helping with this.

Do you know what happened to the owners? Why they left the camp?

  • im glad they chained them up because they were found eventually kept healthy. if they let them go, they prob wouldve died in the wilderness. and i too think the owners should die in the snow

  • In fact stupid is the understatement here. Try absolute M O R O N S!! Shame on them for leaving dogs out like that. Glad this turned out to be a great ending, especially for the new puppies. Think of what would have happened it this event did not happen?
