  • I just started looking at youtube, and I was beginning to think it was nothing but a "bathroom wall", Thanks for helping me realize there is some good stuff here! I just have to wade through the nastiness, to find it!!!

  • I couldn't have received a greater compliment. Thank you! By the way, I created this video for my father-in-law, John Mitchum (post-mortem).

  • It sounds like a computer generated voice.

  • Well, it isn't John Wayne, if that what you were expecting...

This is the only recording of the author reciting his own poem. It is a high-quality digital recording, with a little reverb.

  • These were spoken by my grandpa. I loved listening to him as a child and now hearing his voice again makes me proud.

  • This is what youtube really helps the public with by displaying artistry.

  • I love every bit of it.

  • John Mitchum was my friend. Tonight I heard his voice again and it brought tears to my eyes! How I miss our conversations and his jokes. He cared about people and his country. Has the "America Why I Love Her" album been re-released? I was so happy to give John Mitchum a brand new unopened album for his birthday one year (74th?) His only copy was scratched. To think he wrote the entire album! He was so talented. John would be so proud of this video and that his work lives on. Thank you for this.

  • Splendid WELL SAID BY THE AUTHOR HIMSELF

  • This is one of the best videos ive seen.

  • Thanks, we prefer his "reading" as well. By the way, today (Aug 6th, 2007) is Bob's 90th birthday. Imagine that.

  • Great stuff,I've always kept an eye out for "Big John"

as a life long Robert Mitchum fan I became very fond of JM's work. For what its worth,I prefer Johns recital to the Dukes. Fondest regards

    Steve UK
