~~~~☆ Story ☆~~~~
Lightning is in the ice tunnel overlooking the city. A pained expression crosses her features as she is alerted immediately of Snow behind her.
"Snow?" she calls into the deft night.
Snow bounds up to her about to say something and ogles her, but she turns away. "Save it."
He attempts to walk beside her, but Lightning turns away and heads down the icy cavern. She glances back. "Why...?"
Snow is about to explain, but he again loses the words. Lightning interjects. "For ONCE, I wish you'd see it in my eyes. I don't know YOU."
She remembers when she could cry on his shoulder and pour out her frustrations on him. It was all simpler before her and Serah were both involved in this situation.
Snow comes around to Lightning's side and stutters. "Please...give me more time..."
She's had enough of this game and ambles away with Snow tailing her. He shoots up to her again when she bites him with her scathing tone. "You can't make up your blasted mind!"
She irately storms off into Eden, realizing that she's walking home alone this time.
She experiences delusions of her inadequacy compared to Serah. Snow loved Serah, but he dared make a pass at Lightning and fell for her during their journey. At first, Light had a problem with this, but over time, she accepted her feelings. However, Snow pulled back and withdrew his emotions, hurting both Light and Serah, but Serah easily forgives. After several intimate advances, Snow became indecisive and crawled back to Serah. Each incident left Lighting battered and wounded, craving for much needed love. She knew she was deserving of the abuse because her heart wasn't as golden as Serah's. She wasn't good enough for either of them. Snow always forgot about Lightning, and Light feels she doesn't know Serah or Snow anymore.
Snow expects the cold shoulder Light issues as he catches up with her, but she heads away again.
"Lightning!"
The sight of him disgusts her. Snow places a hand over his heart. "Surely you must understand, Light."
"There's nothing to understand."
"But I-"
That was the last straw. Lightning's fist collided with Snow's jaw and sent him toppling backwards. "I don't love you!"
A sharp memory stabs at her mind. She was elated that Cocoon was saved and Serah came back to her. However, the journey also caused the blossoming of Snow and Lightning's brief romance.
The painful expression invades her face again. Snow stands up. "Lightning, Serah is-"
Another uppercut to the face. "You can't have us both!"
"But I care for you!"
This sent Lightning into a spiral of emotions. No one has ever said that to her before. She balls a fist to her chest and her hand drops. Snow makes whopping strides up to her and impedes her access.
"Light, I-"
She violently shoves him away and cannot meet his lingering gaze. Snow is emboldened and swallows her nimble hand in his.
"See?" as if almost to prove his point.
She doesn't fall for it. "There's a difference between loving and using someone."
Snow closes the gap between them and rests his cheek against her head. Lightning turns around in his awkward half-embrace. Snow pulls away shortly and faces away, but his eyes are drawn to the miserliness in her eyes. Her eyes are cast upwards in a dark, sullen, blankness.
"I'm leaving," she whispers. Snow glances at the ground and cradles his head. Lightning treads down the corridor and sprints through the city. She rushes into the flower cathedral with tears blurring her eyesight. They are returning at full force. She punches the wall and chokes on her tears.
"Why...? Why me...?" she whimpers as her hand snakes its way to her chest again. She makes a decision. "I don't want to live..."
Snow sprints after her and yells her name. He dashes into the cathedral to see her speak her last words.
"This is...goodbye..." comes the forlorn intonation of Lightning Farron. Her eyes bear a haunted, empty look as she faces Snow.
A brigade of soldiers storms in and point their bladed guns at Lightning, all are assassins seeking her as their target. Bullets lance out of the guns and rip into Lightning's body at full force. She collapses to her knees the blood pours from her wound.
"LIGHTNING!!!!" Snow screeches in horror. Lightning's breath becomes strained and labored. Blood drips onto the ground. She finally gives up the fight to live and sees no more.
"NOOO!!!" His roars echo across a vast, empty cathedral devoid of listeners. His knees buckle beneath his weight and he slams his fists into the ground. "Lightning...!"
He glances over at the horrifying, bloodied form of Lightning now cold and inert. Tears flood his eyes and he mutters, "I'm...so sorry..." The sobs wrack his body.
"I never got to tell you how I really feel about you..." And he didn't get to rescue her from her shadow...
@SadGothEmoKid When the party is in Eden and Lightning jumps into the street where all the cars are racing by and the group is just standing there, Lightning gets attacked by some behemoth monster and loses balance. Snow screams "Lightning!" and I just inserted that audio to where it looked like he was saying the words and about to run. The footage where he was running, though, was the scene where Serah was trying to break up with him.
Thanks a bunch! This took a while to make :)
@kawtem Thank you hun! I combined both an overlay that was originally blue and a texture together to achieve the desired effect, not to mention some compositing that took a lot of tweaking. Overall I like how it came out too, but some of the colors to me were harsh lol.
