Another of the Old Fashioned Love Band died last Autumn (2011) in Cornwall. ''Jolly'' Joe Stephenson -banjo.
He and his wife Sue -also a banjo player, lived next door to Cyril and his wife in Whitchurch, Salop, where they held crazy wild all-night parties... circa 1967-69.
-
Cyril Preston used to play with Dick Charlesworth's City Gents -circa 1959/60. UK touring Band.

@BlackDarkerthan you'll be glad to know musicality lives on in his family

Never give up. Cream eventually rises to the top.

A very relaxed style. He's been around on the circuit for some time -played 'em all.

Yes, I remember those two too. And I was there the night Wild Bill was there. Great night. Good times ... I heard Eric had died.... fell of his push-bike I believe.
-
I used to know your dad -Cyril Preston -when he lived in Whitchurch, near the border with Wales. That was in the days when the Band used to play at the Crown and Anchor and the Penny Farthing. It was about 1967/8.

@Decksrayspex I was in contact with one of the members via e-mail but it got buried under thick pile of internet spam and is now gone forever :( He was in the process of writing a book and had some questions about cyril which never got answered. if anyone knows who I am talking about i'd be glad to hear from you. please e-mail decksrayspex@hotmail.co.uk

Nice one! Remember Mel and Eric backing Wild Bill Davison at Froggy's. One of the best ever!
Seen these gentlemen live and we thought they were excellent!
