Jhonas Enroth made sure the Buffalo Sabres remained in seventh place in the Eastern Conference on Sunday night.

The rookie goalie made 35 saves before Marc-Andre Gragnani scored a deflected goal 2:56 into overtime to lift the Sabres past the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 at the RBC Center.

"It's no secret Jhonas was our best player," Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff said.

"We had as good a third period ... as we've had, and (Enroth) made good saves," Maurice said. "You can't complain about the effort or how they played. We generated enough to score a bunch of goals and didn't, but their goaltender made the saves."

Their struggles were in large part due to Enroth, who was spectacular in his third straight start in place of injured goalie Ryan Miller.

  • Holy shit, McCormick drilled Jokinen

  • The future of Buffalo ladies and gentlemen

  • The save was great!!! But McCormick drilling the guy in front was just MASSIVE!

  • I was watching this game and Enroth was absolutely spectacular!

  • I liked the McCormick hit at the end better

He buried jokinen and got an extra guy when jokinen hit him

  • McCormic's hit might be as good if not better than the save..... THAT'S HOW YOU CLEAR THE CREASE KIDS!!!!!!!

  • I don't know what I love more, the save, or McCormick absolutely decking TWO Canes players with one hit

  • My favorite part is definitely how Cody, without a stick, came in and still made himself useful by blowing Jokinen out of the play. Enroth's timing between taking the helmet off and recovering for the save was incredible, he hadn't a moment to spare.

  • haha hurricanes suck my cock. Go back to inbreeding with your sisters. LETS GO BUFFALO.
