You probably make more than $40,000 a year, and from the looks of your avatar, you're probably a white, middle class, heterosexual male. You, like me, are of the most privileged demographic of people in the United States. And if you don't make that much money, you should ask yourself who you have more in common with, poor people of color or the rich white bastards on top that are exploiting you every day.

@ffhk1 Also, I understand that the poorest of the poor in this country tend to be people of color. This is not because they are lazy, as you so ignorantly assert, but rather because we live in a system of institutionalized racism wherein people of color have a harder time advancing economically than white people. THAT is why Affirmative Action exists.

@ffhk1 Actually, my family has always struggled financially, so my parents taught me from a very young age to appreciate what I have and to earn what I do not by working for it. That said, I understand that the Horatio Alger myth of "rags to riches" is a complete LIE and that many poor people (no matter their skin color) are disadvantage because of an unequal distribution of wealth.

I don't have any privilege. Affirmative Action does not privilege me. Minority scholarships do not privilege me. The welfare office will not privilege me. I had to work my ass of to get into college and work my ass off to get a job. I didn't have things handed to me just because I'm perceived as inferior (hence affirmative action).
