Description: Varek considers his sins and the effects they've had on
his family.

Notes: I loved the movie Skinwalkers. It's not a secret to a lot of my friends that I have a weakness for werewolves. I did wish, though, that the director had invested a little more time in developing the emotional side to the characters. I know it isn't first priority in a monster movie to establish the relationships and histories, but if the cast had been a little more fleshed out I think it would have done better in the ratings. Varek was a really prime example; he's been yanked away from his family, converted to one bad-(shut-yo-mouth)biker werewolf gunman and throughout the movie nearly destroys his entire family. He also has a conflicting relationship with Sonja, the female werewolf, but nothing is really elaborated on; what are his feelings on the matter? What kind of tensions is he holding with Sonja? What did it do to him to SHOOT HIS MOTHER IN THE HEAD? That was the point of this movie; trying to make it a little more apparent as to how all the evil he's done would just pile up on top of him.

It's actually spelled "Varek." Also, the flaws of the film should not be put on the director - Constantin Films forced a lot of rewrites and took out a lot of things. If you'd like to read the last draft of the script by the original writers, PM me.

@1993MovieMan Not exactly. He didn't step in front of the bullet to keep Timothy from getting shot. He got shot while getting Tomthy to safety. None the less he is still a hero, but what does that have to do with my earlier comment? I was talking about stereotypes not whether or not the "good black guy" was a hero.

@1993MovieMan It's the stereotype that the black guy always dies first in horror movies. So the fact that they killed off both black guys almost at the same time near the beginning looks pretty bad. Just saying.

i really like this video. I watched this movie for the first time this weekend and found Varek to be my favorite character. I love the song.
