Haunted Hocking Area - Moonville Tunnel

Moonville Tunnel is in Southeastern Ohio and is alleged as one of Ohio's most haunted outside places. It is said to be haunted by a brakeman for the railroad, a ghost called Lavendar Lady and others.

There were probably fewer than a hundred or so people in Moonville from1856 to the 1940s. Like most of the small towns in the region that popped up because of the iron and coal industry, homes were spread out all over the place for a mile or more. Most of them blended into the other towns like Hope, Hope Station, Zaleski, etc. By the1950s, the only things remaining was a few abandoned houses and a lonely stretch of railway between Marietta and Cincinnati.

Although Hocking Hills State Park only offers an area within Hocking County and surrounding the 7 different hiking areas: Conkle's Hollow, Cantwell Cliffs, Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, Rock House and Lake Logan, the Hocking Hills region also encompasses Vinton County. The original use of the word "hocking" came from the Shawnee and Delaware who were referring to the region around the counties of Athens, Perry, Vinton, Hocking and more.

@xxxbtfmeowxxx I went there once and had nothing happen too,but I had no camera to record with.In two trips since though I've gone with one,then two digital cameras and every time got recordings of EVP's,stones being thrown in the tunnel,and being pulled on.Moonville Ghosts are real.

i went there one time and didnt see anything abnormal. i always go up to old mans cave. thats like my second home :]

moonville is not in Hocking area it is in eastern Vinton County
