What!? It's okay for godfearing believers to promote God, Santa and the Yuletide, But any one that isn't Theist are oppressed to the point of Gays? The religious right is wrong. God NEVER EXISTED! Fucking fake ass liars. Read the Bibblit bitches.
this is a little offensive to even me as an Atheist. I don't believe in god but I also don't believe in shoving your ideas down other peoples throats, it's how we end up with war. But I was also just as equally offended when the christian guy said that the holiday season was for religious groups, I celebrate all holidays, no god included, and thats my right.
@jjetao We can go back and forth on the Danbury letter. Bottom line - at bare minimum - it was an opportunity for Jefferson to state that the US is a Christian nation and he didn't. FOX has it wrong. There is a body of quotes/writings that establish that many of the Founders were not Christian (Thomas Paine's "Age of Reason" for example). Pilgrims were persecuted by other Christians. Not non-theists. Isn't it sad that 1 group of Christians had to flee from another faction of Christians?
@jjetao -the nation's condition is not what either party devised or expected.GOD alone can claim it. (abraham lincoln) this country was not based on freedom from relgion but freedom of religion and it find short sighted for athiests to to sneer at and mock those of us have faith in somethng bigger than us all!
@jjetao everyone knows that what jefferson meant by separation of church and state is protecting people from a state mandated church which is why the "pilgrims" left england to begin with. and if you wanna cite quotes,i can do it too
-one nation UNDER GOD indivisible with liberty and justice for all (pledge of allegence)
-a man who stands for nothing will fall for anything (malcom x)
@spiked200 But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.
-Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782
Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear.
-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, August 10, 1787
The expression "separation of church & state" is from TJ's letter to Danbury Baptist Association.
There's no difference between believing in Santa Clause and Jesus. They both take faith (i.e. believing in things you have no evidence for; this from your own bible).
At least atheists try and point that little fact out; for which they get b*tchslapped for bringing a downer to this wonderful commercialized season of gluttony and greed. If you want to have a holiday to celerbrate Jesus (or Mithras as the case may be), fine. But don't have a cow when others show you your flaws.
i am sick and tired of athiests mocking people for having convictions and beliefs. they complain that they are at the bottom of the totem pole.....but are unwilling to egraciate themselves to those of us that take pride in the fact that we have in faith. now i may not agree with particular religions but i give them credit for having religious beliefs.....besides to deny religion is to deny the foundation of this country!
