Maitryee Mahatma - louange à la paix

Maitryee Mahatma is a " Kathak " dancer, who has trained with Sri Shikha Khare, Sri Sharmila Sharma and with the kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj. She has done her doctorate in literature from the University Paris 13. Her theses " Sita and her doubles: myths and representations in the works of Ananda Devi " is the fruit of a long research on the Hindu mythological characters : Sita, Draupadi and Kali. The many variants of these myths urged her to think on the identity of the Indian woman. These reflections influence considerably her relationship with the dance. As dancer / choreographer, Maitryee Mahatma approaches this traditional art form with a contemporary reflection..

Maitryee Mahatma est danseuse "Kathak", formée par Sri Shikha hKare, Sri Sharmila Sharma et par le plus grand maître indien, Pandit Birju Maharaj. Elle est également docteur ès lettres de l'Université Paris 13. Sa thèse "Sita et ses doubles : mythes et représentations dans les œuvres d'Ananda Devi" a été le fruit d'une longue recherche passionnée sur les figures mythiques féminines indous : Sita, Draupadi et Kali. Les nombreuses variantes de ces mythes l'ont poussés à réfléchir sur l'identité ancienne et actuelle de la femme hindoue. Ces réflexions influencent considérablement son rapport à la danse. En tant que danseuse/chorégraphe, c'est en confrontant en permanence tradition et modernité que Maitryee Mahatma fait vivre la danse kathak.
