Marsch der finnländischen Reiterei im dreißigjährigen Kriege [AM II, 211]
March of the Finnish Cavalry in the Thirty Years' War

One of the oldest european military marches (17th Century).

The Guards Band of Helsinki is the official band of the Finnish Defence Forces, established in 1819 and subordinate to the Guard Jaeger Regiment. It performs more than 300 times a year and gives about 40 concerts. Ever since the beginning of Finlands independence, the Guards Band has performed at official Government ceremonies.

  • Beatiful. Sounds good in Finnish also.

  • Spartans march:DD

  • The history of this march is well known. The original composition was quite short; like the marches were at that time. So it was lengthened in 19th century by a finnish composer and military conductor Lauri Hämäläinen.

He added an old finnish folk song in the middle of this march. So actually it is a composition of two pieces. The added part is between 1:18 and 1:44.

  • Brave Finland

  • @gersman1962 It's a march of Finnish Cavalry Regiment "Hakkapeliittas". They fought under the swedish flag in 30 years war. So basically it's finnish, but in theory it's swedish.

Btw, that regiment was the same for Sweden's king what Waffen SS was for Hitler. Super special troops who won every battle they fought.
