This is the pcb of an Xbox 360 with 3 red lights. The quality of the flow-soldering is not good...worst I've seen in 40 years, actually.Resoldering with a fine-tipped iron didn't cure the prob...so back to M$.

  • The surface mount components with black bands have an R which will be a resistor and the larger components with a brown band have a C next to them. These will be capacitors. Hope you can find out what the values should be.

  • maybe it's just the one you got? The one I got works fine. (took it apart to put a mini-cooler inside)... Hmm. Defect mebe. :P

  • M$ have finally admitted that the prob with xbox360's is bigger than they thought are to offer to give 3 year guarantees and pay for repairs inc postage to some (?) buyers. Estimates are about a billion $ to save face with their customers.

Good luck to all those with faulty boxes.

  • This video was made to show engineers and Microsoft what a poor soldering job the xbox 360 has, so please don't worry if you don't understand...it wasn't meant for you.

  • is there a way for me to re-solder my board at home?

  • does ne buddy know which is the temp resister, i suspect that the solder melts off this resister at 140F and causes rrod ,thats why some came be recoverd others 360 are toasted, the backwards grounding,i need scematic of the board

  • @Superjumpmaster Lol. I don't see how using some higher quality solder could impact the cost. Sure maybe by a few cents, but It would impact customer satisfaction.
