When Belle and the Beast are dancing, it was Angela Lansbury singing the song as Mrs. Potts. But Celine and Peabo did a version that was released as a single and a video before the movie came out in order to advertise the movie. It's heard as the credits are run, the same way her version of "My Heart Will Go On" while the Titanic credits were running. "Beauty and the Beast" was Celine's first single.

They did sing the song. If you watch the end credits of "Aladdin" when the movie goes off you will see both versions of the song "A Whole New World" in the credits.
