She grunts because its supposed to mask the sound of the ball hitting the racket, so the opponent wouldnt know weather it would be a good return or not

This is a true story:
I was sitting in my room and watching Sharapova against Williams on my tv. The volyme was very high and suddenly my father comes into my room and scream: "Why the fuck are you watching porn". Then i get really afraid and say,, no take it easy... its just some chicks playing tennis. Since then i never watch women playing tennis. And i dont watch men playing tennis either, because it sound like gay-porn.

I personally think Sharapova's grunting is annoying as all hell. She's doing it on purpose just to try an intimidate. It's pathetic.
