I have already seen the video, however, according to the Department of Justice, less than 1.9% of guns used in crimes are bought at gun shows, and some of that 1.9% went through a background check...

FBskateboarder - As far as the mandatory background checks, we might need to remind these gun store owners/dealers (very strongly) that they need to conduct *their* background checks before issuing a gun to just anyone....

Your right this isnt the the old west, however, crazy shit still happens all the time, like a man gets doped up on pills and invades a house and violently attacks its owners. Thats why I need a gun, i dont need one to protect myself from the average robber or mugger.

I dont mean everybody, but law abiding people that pass the background checks should be allowed to own whatever firearm they want.

There are some, but very few. And also, its already mandatory that when a person buys from a licensed dealer, they must go through a background check.

Additionally, while it *is* a bitch to buy a gun legally - (I've bought & owned a gun before myself) - it's certainly one hell of a good bitch, because that "bitch" can potentially protect a lot of innocent people.

While it's true that criminals can still get guns pratically anywhere - especially off the black market - conducting background checks is a least *one* of many ways our country is trying to combat the problem with the wrong people owning/having access to guns.

FBskateboader - Truth be told, there are some gun owners/gun shops that *don't* follow-through, in doing the right thing, in doing background checks on *every single person/customer* they sell a gun to! (They have video of this on Youtube!...As you may or may not be aware, Congress recently voted on this issue - to make it a mandate/law that *every* gun store owner *must* conduct a background check on *every single* person they sell a gun to - but alas, that mandate/bill did not pass.)

(Nobody should ever put that much faith and trust into a piece of metal - especially one whose main purpose it is to kill others!)

This is not "The Old West" - and not everything (problems/disputes/crime) can be settled with guns. (Our Creator, yours and mine - gave us all a heart, a mouth, & brain with which to settle our differences. Guns don't create peace & harmony - honest hearts, honest mouths, & a clear & fair mindset do.)

So, let's take back our responsilbity & do the right things!

FBskateboarder - The problem is, if you give a gun to every law-abiding citizen - there's a potential you could give a gun to the wrong person.(Like someone who has psychological/emotional issue(s) - or someone that could *potentially* have these issues, further on down the line.) You're only going to create more problems than you first started out with - because you're taking responsibility off the hands and out of the mind of a human being, and entrusting that responsbility to a gun!....

Dont compare the US to Japan, Japan has a COMPLETELY different social engineering than the US does. And also, background checks stops the crazy people :)
