  • I was just flying normally without goggles. The problem with landing under power is that due to the high wing loading, I'd have to come in *very* hot. I decided to shut off and "land" as slow as possible to minimise damage. Thanks for the comments :-)

  • The crash was due to the camera, transmitter module & battery adding too much weight to the plane. The normal flying weight is 12oz, here it was over 20 oz so nearly double the wing loading. This made it very difficult to land as when the power is cut, it falls like a brick! The camera was mounted under the plane between the undercarriage pointing slightly downwards - this is why you do not see the plane. Supprisingly, the plane & camera were not too badly damaged :)

  • lol

  • tht was a hilarious landing 5 star!

  • Great video.. Are you wearing video goggles or just recording to a cam?

  • When I said jets, I meant F-16's F-14's MIG's. Those kind. A 777, 747, 757 etc. or just about any commercial airliner will glide "ok" Not great but ok. :)

  • OK, I understand what you mean. But those brittish fellas landed that 777 without power.

  • That is true but when you have a plane with wings that are designed for X number of ounces and you double the weight, it becomes nearly impossible to "glide" in for a landing. That's why gliders have so much wing area per ounce. That's also why jets don't glide, you have to land them under power or they drop like a rock. Still a good video :)

  • That was in response to kennoy1654

  • More important to know how to land without power, never know when that might happen. The nose dropping when the power is cut is a balance issue. Check out my vids, I never land with power. You can still "fly" without power, ask any glider pilot. I did, however, almost fall out of my chair at that landing, great vid.

  • Don't you know how to land under power? You should ALWAYS be under a little power when landing. You need to "fly" the plane all the way till the wheels touch, then cut the power. Especially when you have doubled the weight. Next time, try landing at a higher speed.
