  • lol. Look at the body roll and understeer on that Golf!

  • So what. Any fucking plonker can get his car remapped. Fact of the matter is Gti-6's are faster, better-looking and more entertaining than a Top-heavy looking shitbox that you call a proper gti.LMFAO.

  • @colly55 Mk4 golf is a poor excuse for a car that's just as problematic!

    At least Peugeots don't rust.

  • What about sound, whic is the best?:)

  • POWER UP AND BURN?!

Well I am 6'1" tall with long legs, so yes my knees are higher than they should be but apart from this, the position is perfect. Out of all the cars I have owned, this is actually a decent long journey car for a hatchback.

The 206/207 are another matter, with cramped pedals and an off-set driving position with the wheel to the left of the pedals. HORRID!

My first was a grey (colour code MOTH) 306 2.0 XSi Phase 1 on a 1996 plate, and I prefer the more edgy styling to the later revisions. The handling was insane and the feedback through the steering wheel was constant. I had TSW Blade alloys on 195/50/15 tyres which looked great. Sadly this car rotated on black ice and hit a wall........R.I.P. Pug.

I bought my second 306 the other day and while I was paying for it etc, there were four different people getting into mine to try it out. They later came in asking about buying it but too late of course! I suggested they could go for the Golf 2.0 GTi that was also on the forecourt, but they were not interested one bit. Nuff said!

I think the handling is supreme on the 306 but it does need decent low profile tyres for best results, and I think the best balance is 195/50/15

  • It would be interesting to do a comparison today of the current shape golf and the peugeot 308.

I bet the outcome would be the opposite. Peugeot have totally forgotten how to make a car drive well, while VW have got back some of their old sharpness. Looking at that golf on the corners, they probably needed to!!

My near standard GTi6 does 0-60 in 6.8 and was bhp tested in jan this year at 166bhp. It's only got 3 engine mods inc' a K&N and NGK plugs with Powerflow pipe.

I want to join the GTi6 owners club! :-)
