Yes you can but you would need a Big Target man to hold up the ball and bring the wide players into play
-
can you apply this to 4-3-2-1?
-
@suraj246 haha very true
-
@RePuLsEGaming hopefully they can soon win some trophies with this formation lol
-
@suraj246 van persie got ejected in the game against barcelona because of a bad call...arsenal can clearly run this formation and is one of the reason that they follow manchester united closely for premier league
-
4-3-3 is simply the BEST!
-
Very good video, thanks ! Hope they can keep up their good form to win title this year ..

The best formation was probably the Inter 4-2-3-1, where Sneider pushed back from central attacking midfielder to defensive midfielder and Eto'o was a semi-libero going all over the right half of the pitch from defensive midfielder/and even defender up to support striker position.

@julianken2008 i think that was chelsea who played 4-1-4-1
too bad this formation didnt lead to any trophies lol, they even got smacked by a barca team who actually know how to use the formation to greater effect

@suraj246 The formation was working brilliantly until van Persie got injured. Arsenal struggled to replace him as the creative centre-forward and it hurt their goal tally. A fully-fit Arsenal against a fully-fit Barcelona would have been a much closer contest.

I read Arsenal played 4-1-4-1 and not 4-3-3 as is oftenheard. Either way I think this is a great idea but also i need to be critical and say that on the pitch players are usually only thinking about their own positions on the pitch. They are always looking for space, to turn, to create angles so I don't think that over - analyzing goals in relation to formation is really important. I think specific tactics like switching play, drawing defenders, creating space, 1-2s are more important to scoring

@julianken2008 It's a 4-3-3 when attacking but more of a 4-1-4-1 when defending. Yes you're right that it has a lot to do with players's individual actions, but the 2 key points about the 4-3-3 are that it a) stretches the playing field (due to having 2 forwards operating in the corners of the pitch) and b) it provides an extra man who can break into the box from deep.

great analysis, might i also add that fabregas's goal against everton included 3 nutmegs. quite funny yet risky

@SUPERcheekykiwi1 Just goes to show the confidence the side were playing with at the time. It's a shame it all fell apart in April (arguably even earlier)
