Hawking is not a sociologist nor is he an expert on exopolitics. He is just a physicist and it's unfortunate in my opinion that he said what he said because alot of people will believe him just because he has "credentials" in some area and is well known. It seems more likely that there would be variation in the character of advanced species just like there is between individuals here on earth. And Hawking is no more advanced than you or anyone else, he is just gifted in a particular field.

You hit close to the mark when you say "they" think "we" are dangerous to them. After examining previous theories it would seem that we are a slave class that was abandon. This planet is the only planet in a large amount of space that can harbor advanced life.

I believe they've returned but are in shock to see we are no longer living in huts. Also I'm certain our grasp of nuclear weapon technology has given them pause for thought

They don't want this planet to be destroyed for obvious reasons

The thing is, you're equating morality with being advanced.

All that is required for a lifeform to be spacefaring and ancient is technology and survivability. They could be extremely violent nomads who reproduce quickly - highly adapted for war. We might not call them 'mentally' advanced... but they could get here.

Exactly which other 'theories' did you examine? Because there is this really good one called 'evolution' which gives a beautifully reasonable and logical explanation of how humans arose as a species. It's also supported by mountains of evidence.

... I also think that may be they have another way of thinking.. as in evolution of thought... may be.. they grew beyond the concept of good and evil... and wherever they exist.. they learned to live in symbiosis with their planet... who knows.. I just know we don't ...as you said... and our way of living on this planet comes much closer to an virus life form.. yet we think of our selves as the supreme intelligent living beings on this planet.. a joke...

Well what if they already r with us? As in since they're more advanced than us, what's the impossibility of them "being" one of us? U never know..

There has to be a reason why he said this, a hidden message, he is too clever to say such a stupid thing. Aliens will not need our resources because to travel to Earth either through normal space or subspace would require more resources than what we have. All our resources can be found in nebulas, asteroids and other planets. Would you disturb a bee's nest for honey when there is honey everywhere else with no bees? He knows something we don't. Besides, if aliens wanted Earth we stand no chance.

Why is it dangerous? Is he trying to control who we talk to. If I want to talk to aliens I will. Just because they more intelligent than him or they might reveal that God exists.
