"The Antibiotics Song"

This is a project I did for my Evolution class my sophomore year of college. The chords are taken from Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song." I recorded the guitar and added drums in Garage Band and then edited together some footage to make it into a video.

Lyrics:
You've prob'ly heard 'bout antibiotics
But did you know that they're in lots of household products
Like lotion, soap, and tissues
Yeah its causing many issues
Let's take a closer look at this problem

There's this thing called bacteria and it can make you sick
So scientists and doctors came up with a fix
And for a while it worked just great

But then the drugs got overused in different locations
Like hospitals and waiting rooms and family corporations
So now there's lots of drug resistant strains

Like pneumonia
and staph infection
Just to name a few

There's an over use of antibiotics
In lots of common household products
Like toys and multi-purpose sprays
So now there's drug resistant strains
And it's causing quite a public health problem

*Science Time!*

The weak germs die at a much higher rate
See how all the mean ones survive to procreate
So now the germs can beat up the drugs

So even if you're working towards your college degree
You could still contract drug resistant TB
And you would just be fresh out of luck.

**So you see class... by developing all of these antibacterial products, these companies are actually causing bacteria to evolve at an incredibly rapid rate. You don't need me to tell you that highly advanced bacteria is certainly not something we want roaming around. So the next time you go to CVS, make sure to take a closer look at the products you buy because....**
