Stan and Iris sold it to a reputable company because GM needed good batteries to power the EV1 and then GM shelved the car, sold the technology to an oil company and the oil company is sitting on it! In contradiction you claim GM is a reputable company and then claim they are NOT a reputable company because they are in bed with the oil companies!
Why be sympathetic to Ovonics? because the man is old

Ownership of competing technology by oil companies is ILLEGAL It violates the basic ideas of antitrust laws. So does monopolizing energy by selling patents to ONE car company.

Ok, how am I contradicting myself? By assuming that when GM had an ACTUAL electric car and, by the way, bought a controlling stock in a 900 year old man's company (from which he's resigned) they were viewed as reputable. Then, out of nowhere they show their true stripes and ax the program and sell off the technology to Chevron and then become bad guys -in my opionion. Somehow that makes Ovshinsky "guilty" and "greedy as sin"? Do you understand business at all? Someday a guy should get paid!
