  • The tachometer is very easy to drive: you just have to pulse a signal. The faster you pulse the further you move the niddle. The Arduino is perfect for a project like this. I did the preliminary tests with the arduino. I am going to write a post on my blog about this project. You will be able to find useful information there.

  • I created a Windows application in C# which reads the CPU usage and send the data to the USB tachometer.

  • @mykatamari exactly the xoxide pc tach kit is the original! with the good ole' serial connection! i still have mine working after all these years since 2001ish!

  • I just thought of another thing, if you added a sound generator, so as the computer "revs" there is also an engine revving sound to go along with it. Albeit would need a volume control with an off position still its an idea
