Super Soil VS Roots Part 1

A Side By Side Comparison of Super Soil vs. Roots Organic Soil

Now at the time I made this little video I did not know that Sub now uses Roots Organic in his new recipe. So, being that my little demonstration is a bit behind the times I would still like to do the comparison. I haven't changed from the old recipe to the new one so I'd like to see how they stack up against each other. Then I'll try the new recipe and run it against the winner and see which of the three is best for me. Will it be the old Super Soil recipe (I like it) - the new Super Soil Recipe (with Roots Organic and other things) or just Roots Organic by itself? Who knows?

Hey guess what - after lets see...5 years of growing (I'm still a newb) - I just realized there is a difference between sunshine #2 mix and Sunshine peat moss bale.... I mean.... whoa - this could be the reason my mix has never done what other people's did. I went to get my usual bale of sunshine peat and for the very very very first time saw a gray #2 bag sitting next to it and it clicked. The light bulb came on....and omg.... I mean really now I feel slightly st00pid. ok REALLY st00pid.

So uh.... Givemenugs - what would you suggest that I do use - I'm all ears on something better.

You're right Givemenugs - at some point I probably figured I'd use BGsince it was mostly peat and castings and oh probably a few other things that were already going into the mix so I simplified - probably - along the way I forgot that it was not as the original recipe intended. I don't think, at least..... who the hell knows I was three sheets to the wind on something tasty. Thanks bostonian. This isn't a super exact scientific experiment here - we all just having some fun. LOL @ Razz :P

ok. i here you say you add sea salt. I have a question about that. In a living soil mix, you want to focus on you micro life correct? I know why you add epsom salt for the added mg it gives you. but sea salt that is going to dry out and kill the fungi and bacteria a.k.a. your micro life. that is one of the reasons to stay away from the syn ferts just wanted to see if im on the right path.

You should use a 60 gallon composting wheel barrel to mix up that soil. $99 at Home Depot.
