@mattotherebel Gullah or Geechee peoples are remnants or descendants of slaves brought in from West Africa. They thrived in those islands because they came from a similar environment and had vast experience growing and harvesting rice. Their language is historically a mixture of broken English and several West Indian French dialects. Please do not try to claim a culture that is not your own. Our culture and heritage is all we have. Being from the region does not mean you can claim the culture.

@ndaimageofimhotep I'm "white" and I agree with you 100%. Why do "we" think that we are "entitled" to everything? O.K. This is America, "our country" and that does not give us the right to take over, but we also are so arrogant that we go other lands and start taking over..... I hate it! I hope to GOD the Gullah's can retain their islands and their heritage and I will even go as far as saying it's their birth right!

@DanmEveryNameIsTaken That would ruin the whole feel of the island and the culture that they are trying to preserve. The woman at the end of the video said it best~ If I can buy bread and eggs, go to the doctor and pay my bill, what would I do with the excess that the government is going to take from me anyway?
