Many parishes in Putnam County, Ohio, trace their roots directly or indirectly to Glandorf St. John the Baptist, a parish that was established by German Catholic immigrants in 1834 and later became a regional mission center. Because of its special place in the history of Catholicism in northwest Ohio, St. John was selected to host a regional celebration of the Diocese of Toledo's 100th anniversary with Bishop Leonard P. Blair on May 16, 2010. Learn more about the history of the parish in this video and in our May 9, 2010 print edition.
