ok wow i was reading a bunch of comments and..... well wtf?!?!?!?! hacking is not illegal. the definition of hacking is making a device do something it was not meant to do. obtaining information or access to something through hacking is illegal.
defcon is full of security professionals trying to prevent illegal hacking of systems. saying all hacking is illegal is like saying driving a car is illegal, cuz u can kill someone with a car.

There was some guy asking about stealing WiFi from hotels using "oobun two", and asked if I'd heard of it (lol). "I need an expert in Backtrace 5" (he means Backtrack) "Do you know anyone?" "Uh, no, I dont know anything" (closing my laptop). I thought he was screwing with an RFID scanner or something, getting so close to me. Jeez, use the replacement for Airsnort like everyone else.

@Lizfan2 to them, the line between making interesting hacks for whatever reason (white/grey hat) and fucking shit up (black hat) is nonexistent. to them, the reasoning goes like this: it either is criminal, or it isn't. no grey areas. those who actually know better, i'd dare to presume they're just tired. "why should we make any difference between the three when nobody else does?"
