@Candyliz2003 That's indeed a very good question. Back then, a majority of Iranians were rural-dwellers and about the same portion (55%) were illiterates. Unfortuantely , due to the religious stigma attached with hejab as primal tenent of Islam in addition to the macho atmosphere associated with the euphoric, religious societies like Iran of 1979, many progrssive thinking men who were pro-women's rights (and a minority) were either redered powerless and/or brutally suppressed by the militants .

Beautiful, "freedom is not eastern or western, it is universal".
The women of Iran played such an important part in making the Iranian revolution happen. They are not given the credit they deserve, it would not have happened without them and they were betrayed by the cleric takeover.

Were there no men supporting these women?
If not, why not?
I remember 1979 very well. I remember being angry that the Equal Rights Amendment in the US did not pass. I cannot imagine the enslavement that these women suffered at the same time.
