92redrevolver, i SO agree with you. she's kind of my idol, even though she's fictional. i don't know why.... love this movie. greatest. f'in. movie. ever.

um at that one part...i couldn't see very well, does Javert come up to Fantine and kick her in the face or smack her in the face?
so so sad. this is, like, my most favorite movie in the whole damn world though.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see Victor Hugo's Javert just standing there watching. It might've gone that way in the book, but I don't think it did. The character was dedicated to the LAW, he wasn't cruel.

You mean you wouldn't mind being thrown out of your job, forced to give your child to strangers then sell your hair and teeth and become a prostitute in a desperate attempt to keep your daughter alive, before slowly dying of tuberculosis?
-
That was...strangely arousing...
Maybe in poor taste, but I wouldn't mind being her.

Oh! Poor Fantine! o my gosh, she is my favorite character, next to Eponine. she is the saddest figure in the movie though, by far. these guys are such asswholes. Fantine has EVERY damn right to be crying1 she's poor and has lost EVERYTHING. poor poor woman. i love the scene though. i have been searching everywhere for it.
when i take french next year, my french name will be Fantine.
you are my hero for putting this up! merci beacoup! merci!
he's a bit of an arse int he?
