Comparing Islam to a cult is maybe a little too far, but almost every muslim I have ever talked with considers any criticism of Islam to extremely insulting.

At the time of the conquest of Makkah. Prophet had divided his companions into different groups to enter Makkah from different routes. One of the companions who was the leader of a group, raised a slogan with happiness, "Makkah is ours from today".
